Logitec's WiFi Skype phone

The Japanese company Logitec just released a new autonomous Skype WiFi phone the LAN-WSPH01WH. Our little phone uses either a B or G wireless connection and will net require you to be connected to a PC in order to place a call. The LAN-WSPH01WH is also Bluetooth and can be hooked to a computer a to a hand free headset.

so would this thing work in North America?

Skype currently lets me skype-out to my girlfriend's cell for free as its allowing (for now at least) free calls in North America. This thing looks like a solution to my current moble phone needs, at least in urban areas. Something tells me it wouldn't be much use in the backwoods country.

Just wondering as none of the local providers are that great here and this looks good for what I need.

Thanks God the first time you turn it on, it will let you choose between Japanese or English menu languages, so I am using it perfectly: Skyping in and out from Japan, New York (where I found some free hotspots) and Brazil...

An excellent aquisition!!!

1. Can wifi mobile phones be purchased in brazil or can they be sent to brazil and still function in wireless hotspots?
1. Question. If my girlfriend in brazil has skype and a skype wifi phone and i also have skype in the united states then can I call her skype wifi phone for free as long as she is in a wireless network range? For example, if a laptop connects to a network is there a wifi phone that can connect to the same connection in brazil?
