Just a little comment about the last thing you said. Because iPhone gonna be linked with one operator (Cingular for the USA) by, it seems, connections with dedicated servers, a phone'll be usable only with the operator from which it was bought. Moreover they don't take benefit of the 3G for the moment. So It gonna be difficult to use an US iPhone, here in Japan ^^

To conclude ... wait and see
But I'll definitly buy one when it'll be released here :D
