Got an Empty PCI Slot? Why Don’t You Fit a 2.5” SSD or HDD?

Novac Japan proposed a nice little kit for those who happen to have an empty PCI slot on their desktop. Simply put, this 2.5” SATA Kit Slot is a 2.5” SATA HDD rack that fits in a PC case in place of a PCI card.

Here's nifty way to add a 2.5” HDD or SSD on a desktop if other means aren't possible.

Nice solution. Too bad I don't have any PCIslots on my laptop.

What kind of read/write speeds will it offer?

I know we are limited by what we put in the slot, but just wondering if it accelerates things over SATA.

Looks like this is just a carrier as there is no PCI or PCIe edge connector. Would still have to plug the interface into your motherboard disk drive controller and power from elsewhere? If true then "if other means aren't possible" would only apply to not having a place to mount an ssd.
