O.T Zune HD, Now Official

The folks over Gizmodo and Engadget just announced what many were waiting got, the official launch (this fall) of the Zune HD.

Better, stronger, and slimmer is what seems to be the new Zune HD's motto . This new DAP has a 3.3” 16:9 type capacitive OLED screen with multitouch, an “ok” resolution of 480x272, support of both HD radio and video 720p (most probably WMV HD only), an accelerometer and so on…
Now if only Microsoft would let this baby out for the rest of us…

Want to know more about it, just go and check what Gizmodo and Engadget have to say.

Gizmodo : Zune HD Is Real, Has Multitouch Web Browsing, OLED Screen and HD Video

How could this be of any use ? Displaying 720p video on 480x272 screen ? This thing doesn't even deserve to have 'HD' in its name...

It has 720P HD output to an external screen, not on it's own "480x272" screen.

sorry I think digital audio players shouldn't be advertised to hold "Hi-Def" videos that can be outputted in "Hi-Def" to an external screen. It just seems gimmicky that they're advertising this feature this way. There's a reason why these players are portable nowadays and lugging around external cables in your pocket or bags seem silly. The reason you'd put videos in a portable player in the first place is most likely to be able to view these videos while on a subway - not really to bring over to a friend's place. Just how many 720p videos could you store in this new dap anyways? I read it's a flash storage so definitely not some 500gb behemoth compact drive. I'd rather just bring the discs or a portable drive.
