Hi Daimaou, I enjoy your site quite a lot, so keep up the good work. 2 Q's: Whats the screen resolution and would it be possible for us folks in Europe to buy it somewhere?
Thx, Ewout

Thanks for the review. It's nice to see a Japanese brand making rounds in the netbook reviews instead of the usual Asus and Dell.
The performance seems a little over the top for the netbook. I has decided not to take on an Atom but seems this one takes the biscuit.
If you would be kind enough, I'd like to know it's performance with Linux, specially Ubuntu. I am expecting minimal driver problems, but wireless could be a problem.
How would you rate its multitasking? Considering the fact that it could handle CS3. How about running office+iTunes+browser?
Also any idea about a release date and the price?
Cheers.

The reason the video is working well is because Intel finally started to fix the broken GMA 500 drivers.
The GMA 500 has proper video decoding logic similar to the ones in AMD and NVIDIA GPU's but its support for it through DXVA was broken in most shipping drivers.
NEC must be shipping with the newer driver that fixes DXVA support so MPC-HC can offload the decoding to the GPU.
The Windows OS makes no difference its the driver and DXVA support that do. Of course certain web players without DXVA support your still at the mercy of the CPU e.g Flash or Quicktime.

Hi Guys, unfortunately I no longer have the device with me, I had to give it back to NEC.
But here you are a few answers
1) This product is a B2B PC, meaning that it will be ONLY sell on NEC Pro Website and never else where in Japan
2) Performances are as good as on my Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz with 2GB of RAM when it comes to PhotoShop CS3
3) Screen Resolution = WXGA
4) Battery lifespan with Wifi will be around 2 and half hour

Nice to see trackpoint instead of touchpad.
The machine uses fanless cooling, right?
