X20, the new iRiver PMP is finally available in Japan

Rate this News:  BadPoorAverageGoodExcellent
If you’re a fan of portable audio/video devices, you’ll be happy to know that this latest iRiver one, the X20, is coming to Japan! It comes with 2, 4 or 8GB of internal memory, a 2.2” QVGA screen, a new Wheel PAD, an FM tuner, support for MicroSD, MP3 WMA and OGG files for audio, WMV and Mpeg-4 files for video, and UMS (some kind of USB key). It has 22 hours of battery life for audio playback, measures 98.5x49x14.8mm and weights 71g. I’ll probably dump my Clix now…

Except for the microSD only support - why not a regular SD? - everything sounds (and looks) pretty good! OGG - how nice!

but it's on iRiver Japan's website ... ah, they'll start selling it online from Feb 23 and in the store from the beginning of March.
Patience is a virtue...

Hey! I've got an error in my BBCode and now my comment above is truncated

A preview would be really helpful!

TIA!

Small note about UMS. UMS (usb mass storage (device)) makes the device act like a normal usb memory stick when it's connected to a computer. As opposed to MTP (media transfer protocol) or PTP (photo transfer protocol) that requires specific drivers and programs to communicate with the device. MTP/PTP is still best supported on Windows platforms, afaik. UMS is supported by most os's right out of the box today.

Received my iRiver X20 yesterday. This was before the planned delivery time! The new iRiver is awesome! It is one of the best looking mp3/video players i owned. User friendly menu system and great sound and video quality. Ordered from warehouse123.com on Sunday the 3rd, received it on Tuesday the 6th. Lightning fast delivery! Price is good! Only $159 for the 4G version! It's a lot cheaper than the 4G iPod Nano! Package came with some free accessories. Good Deal!
