Like many, we were very affected by Sunday's events in Akihabara, and send our sincere condolences to the victims and families.

For those who don't know, a Japanese ("tired of living" according to Japanese police) was driving a truck that swerved into pedestrians, in the heart of Akihabara, before he got out of his vehicle to stab people at random.

*sigh* Well, what can I say? This incident, recent scandals in the US., people involved in street brawls here in Canada (just when I thought nothing interesting would ever happen here), gas prices (rising like they're trying to set a world record or something). All this reminds me of the popular song by Buffalo Springfield, called " For What It's Worth". The world's really messed up nowadays, and it's not just these incidents, but rather the general feeling of paranoia which seems to be pervading the world at large. To say that " I sense a great disturbance in the force" would be an understatement.
I would also like to offer my condolences to everybody who was affected by this incident. And to people tuning into this website in general, I would like to encourage you not to let all these problems affect you too much. Think about it this way, the mess were in has been lasting for a while, so its bound to end sooner or later, right?......................................(I hope).

Hello,
I would like to send my condolences out to to the families and victims as well.
I have one question about this on the culture side though. I actually feel a little rude to ask this, but... why did they blur the man's hand and why are they running after ambulances with big nets so people can't see the wounded?. Is it because they don't want to shock people or why is it?
If you feel that this is a rude question.. I'm sorry...

If you don't know, Japan's suicidal rate is at #1 top in the world.

This is understandable considering how exigent, under pressure, very high demand to produce, be productive, etc, Japan's society live.

What happened in US is different, almost 99% of cases are caused by extreme bullying.

What's wrong is hurting common people, they should go after politics!

A cry for help, albeit a lethal one.

My condolences to all the victims and their families, and that includes the psycho.

Wake up Japan! The high suicide rates are always blamed on high stress work, but this is only a small part of the picture. Japan has ridiculously high percentage of people with insecure and avoidant attachment styles, much higher than that in the west. There is something very wrong with the way the current generation was brought up.
