HDTV: Akihabara Visit Video Part I

It's been almost 2 years since we made a little guide on the good ideas and traps to avoid when meking a Geeky visit to Akihabara. Technology has come to our rescue and here is a HDTV version of this small guide! That's right, we will do the whole of Akihabara in HD, but it might take a while (3 months is our best guess) before the project is completed. Later we'll be offering maps with the areas we shot on video, so people who like to visit will have something in their hands when they hit the street.

The review and HD video can be found over here !

Video looks great in flash...

Add some titles in, please. It's hard to hear you when you're in the crowds, and even though I recognize where you are in the first few shots, the one where you walked down the aisle of cubby hole shops, I'm sure I've been there, but I couldn't tell from what you were saying.

An added suggestion, if you're going to review the shops, try and do a more in depth review of why each one is bad or not, or which would appeal to a certain interest.

Job well done though on getting it out the door. It looks excellent.

Very nice. The video looks great so far. Perhaps you could ask a professional cameraman for some advice on how to further improve on your filming techniques?

The French accent takes some getting used to though. I could hear and understand almost everything, but I didn't understand what was meant by "…but we will go sea-side/si-side, and sea-side/si-side…" at the end of the video when (I think) the main street chūōdōri is pointed at.

I'm looking forward to the following videos!

I am taking a trip to Japan in May so your video(s) will help me "not waste my money." I liked the overview and the way that you said not to spend your money in some of the stores and then you said that you will show us where to spend our money in upcoming videos. I'm looking forward to them and hope that you release them before I leave.

I can tell you from first hand experience...

No matter how exciting Sato Musen's building looks from the front (day or night), it's as bland as Circuit City on the inside.

It's the one on the left in my pic. Similarly, skip on Gamers and Laox. The Gamers store was disappointing to say the least, no resin kits, and it was full of idol music CD's, FFVII:AC merch, and of course, gundam.

Daimaou, I'm hoping you'll cover something I needed to know about the area. Where's the anime stores, where's the resin kit shops, and which are porn stores that need to be avoided.

I accidentally wandered into one just around the corner from Gamers, about a half a block from Club Sega, and myself and a friend dared ourselves to go to some of the upper floors to look at what was being sold. Don't. The 5F will haunt me forever.
