Clients of Japan Rail will also produce free electricity

JR (Japan Rail) is currently experimenting at the Tokyo station, where 760,000 people take their trains or metros daily, a system to generate free electricity for their everyday usage! Each time a client goes thru the gates, he or she walks on a metal plate and the resulting vibrations generate electricity. This seems like a brilliant idea, but we have to give JR this month’s STUPID award..! Well done Japan Rail, this is the first time we give such an award…

Why is this a stupid concept? After putting these plates all over the station, they managed to produce enough electricity to power a 100W light bulb for 10 to 15mn per day, even with 760,000 people walking on these plates… So, well done! This project must have cost a fortune and the result is close to nil. With such miraculous technological advances, we're still far from saving this planet…

I think Robert Sheckley - SF writer - had an idea of a remote planet where people generated al energy via doors and other moving things. However the real energy source was the planets solar cells which gained power from the visiting spacecrafts exhaust radiation ))
