Toshiba Automotive HD-DVD : Drive and Enjoy: The HD-DVD Player For Your Car

Have you ever wondered what it's like to cruise down the street with a High-Def flick to keep you company? Yeah, me neither. But if you're one of the people that would be interested, Toshiba showed off two new in-car technologies that may sneak their way into your next auto.

Developed with Alpine, the in-car HD-DVD player is rife with little information. The only thing I can tell you right now other than the obvious (it plays HD movies) is it's expected to hit stores sometime in 2008.

The second technology will allow you to enjoy those flicks. The LCD display integrates an optical sensor for each pixel and can be controlled by shadows from your fingers instead of purely touch. Even better, because the screen does not use film coating, cost is reduced and brightness and contrast are maximized.
