Sony SR5C : Sony Drops 2 Camcorders

Interestingly, Sony has launched a couple of HD-capable camcorders without even issuing a press release.

The HDR-SR8 appears to replace the SR7 announced in April. It boasts a 3.2-megapixel video sensor and 10X optical zoom. Right now, further details are short on this one, but expect more information as Sony ships the camera on July 9th for $1,600.

Offering far more information, the SR5C upgrades storage, and increases capacity from 40GB to 100GB. If you encode your video in H.264, you should be able to get about 36 hours of 1080i-resolution HD video onto the camera. Expect the SR5C to drop on July 9th as well for $1,300.
