Then Apple will need to make a 3G version instead of the silly 2.5G mess they are offering now.

The iphone is a disgrace... i predict japanese made phones to dominate the japanese market... that is unless apple makes some serious improvements.

The Softbank 822P is not the slimmest 3G phone in Japan. That honor belongs to the Softbank 708SC (Samsung SGH-V708 a.k.a. SGH-Z370) which is 0.5mm thinner. The 708SC is also about 22 grams lighter. In fact, it's the lightest 3G phone in Softbank's lineup. The 822P has a couple more features, but they aren't worth the extra thickness and weight in my opinion.
