The All New Sanyo DMX-CA8 Waterproof

Here you are! I'm now allowed to talk about the new waterproof Xacti DMX-CA8 which will be sold in Japan mid-May, 2008.

So... What’s up Doc? Our camera now has a 8Mpix CMOS sensor as well as a new “face chaser” which works with both photos and video, and up to six different persons (video) or even up to 12 for pictures even under water! It's waterproof and compatible with JIS IPX5 and IPX8 Japanese standard, meaning that you can stay at a maximum of 1.5m depth under water for one hour.

As for codec, Sanyo uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at 60fps in VGA, a 5x optical zoom.
As performance, the DMX-CA8 is simply put a DMX-CA65 (You can access to our review of the CA65 here), which is a good thing, but we would really love for Sanyo to jump into the 16:9 world.

So what's next? a 720p waterproof version ? Please Sanyo... Please!!!

Please enjoy our photo gallery and small video.

That's a beauty. Those colors are just awesome. It still seems like Sanyo is behind some of their " competitors ".

It's a replacement of the Xacti CA65 or a it's new different model? It seems to have the same features like that one, does it offer any improvement? Thanks!

I want to buy this over the E1 sold in America. Will it be available in America this May or only in Japan. If in Japan only, is there anyway to get one to America cost effectively? Thanks.
