Sharp LR388D8 : Sharp Launches the LR388D8, an LCD Controller Based on MDDI Technology

Today Sharp announced the mass production of its new LCD controller using the high-speed serial interface MDDI, the LR388D8. For use on mobile phones, it enables the simultaneous display of an image on built-in LCD screens and external LCD screens.

The LR388D8 LCD controller supports the MDDI standard and ensures high speed and mass data transfer between the LCD panel and the MSM chipset (400Mbps).

It allows TV viewing on the mobile screen (through your phone’s 1Seg tuner) at the same time as viewing pictures taken from the built-in camera on the external screen.

It should be available at the end of October for 15€.
