CEATEC 2008 Live: Sharp Booth and its Stunning XS1 LED LCD

Sharp XS1
You thought the 9.9mm thin Sony Bravia TV was cool? Well here's another thin wonder, but this time it's Sharp's XS1 Series available in 52" and 65” with LED backlight.

Our TV is obviously full HD, but also features ASV LCD panels with an LED backlight brightness of 450cd/m2, at only 2.28cm thick (up to 6.04cm in some aeras). Maybe less impressive than Sony's 9.9mm, but here we're talking about a 65” TV in a stunning aluminum body!

With such a slim body you may imagine our TV’s tuner to be external, and you'd be right. The interesting feature is that for once Sharp will use the Bluetooth Technology with their remote.

AQUOS.jp, Sharp's VOD Service
VOD service has been for too long a synonym for crappy service. Face it, how many times have you been disappointed with VOD services? But the AQUOS.jp ain’t your average VOD, this service is clearly impressive since it not only includes video and Internet stuff, but On Demand Magazine and a newspaper library. To put things into perspective, you'll be able to read an online magazine same as a paper version, but with on screen interactive features. Such a feature can only be... Impressive!

Sharp Other
Sharp also used the CEATEC to introduce a bunch of new Blu-ray VDR devices, and some existing ones like the Willcom D4, and the mobile phone with electronic key compatible with Nissan cars.
