SC-ZT1, Panasonic's Gorgeous Full Wireless Theater System

Today Panasonic announced the launch of their first fully wireless home theater system, the SC-ZT1. Now home theater enthusiasts can do away with speaker cables and arrange speakers throughout the room without worrying about tripping hazards or unsightly cables crossing the floor. Uncompressed audio data is sent over a wireless 2.4-GHz frequency band to ensure high-quality sound.

The SC-ZT1 debuts Panasonic’s elegant Sound Slim Speakers which are engineered by arranging four speakers vertically inside a slim pole to achieve a parallel sound system. This creates a lifelike virtual 7.1 sound from four ultra slim pole-type speakers, which provides ideal listening conditions even when lying down or sitting in front of the TV. Also, because the sound is produced in a parallel configuration, it remains crisp and clear with minimal reflected sound from the ceiling or from the floor.

The speakers also boast an integrated subwoofer. This long-stroke woofer, with a diameter of approximately five inches, is built into the speaker stand and generates sounds from the low-frequency range to deep bass that is typically produced by subwoofers. Because it uses a Down-Fire structure, which releases the sound facing downward toward the floor, powerful and deep bass sounds are achieved within a compact body.

Even though the SC-ZT1 is a four-speaker system, Panasonic's virtual technology lets users enjoy Dolby® TrueHD and DTS™-HD 7.1-channel surround sound. Users can take wireless freedom a step further by adding a VIERA Z1 TV and a DMP-BD80, BD70V or BD60 Blu-ray DiscTM player, creating a totally wireless home theater system in which both images and sound are transmitted without cables. Even those with space constraints can enjoy lifelike sounds that rival 7.1-channel systems.

The SC-ZT1 will be available in the spring of 2009. Suggested retail price to be announced.

I still dont see the benefit of this...
I mean... You'll still have to get power to it.
So.. You just have 1 instead of 2 cables running thru the room to the speaker?

Big thing!

That's what I feel same way... to get rid of speaker wires, you get power line cables and where they should go?

Usually you have access to sockets near by, behind or beside the couch, so that you won´t have to run your power cable through the room. Great solution with integrated subwoofer in each speaker and wireless 2.4-GHz frequency band to ensure high-quality sound.
