DR-07, the Latest Digital PCM Recorder from Tascam

Tascam (TEAC) yesterday announced their new DR-07, a compact digital PCM recorder made for those requiring close to perfection on the go recording without the need to get a whole truck of cables and other goodies.

The DR-07 supports both SD and SDHC cards and a 2GB SD card is included in the package.
Audio files are recorded in WAV (linear PCM) at 16/24bit, and MP3 format ranging from 32 to 320kbps.
Tascam also offers a long list of nice recording features including the ability to pre-size files, and recording delay recording to prevent noise during DR-07 manipulation…

The DR-07 requires only two AA batteries and provides up to 7.5hrs of battery life in recoding mode.

Great move from tascam supplying with the 2GB card. The DR-1 only came with a 1 GB. Even launched in the UK now, found one here

I played around with a lot of the newer crop of recorders including the DR-07 (as well as the Zoom H4n, the Yamaha Pocketrak CX, and several others) and out of the box the DR-07 honestly seemed to produce recordings that had the least background noise and hiss. The thing is a little bit limited (no internal speaker and only two recording channels) but otherwise it is a nice little pocket style recorder. For more power though, definitely consider the Zoom H4n. I hope you don't think this too spammy, but I did do a set of reviews on eight of these portable digital audio recorders so take a look if you are so inclined.
