What's going on with the keypad for this phone? Does it really have that many blank keys or can the keys display various icons?

That sounds alot like the Optimus Maximus keyboard. What's the difference?

Nothing like an Optimus, this one does not have pixels. That means each key can display a predetermined set of icons, whereas the Optimus can display any image you can draw. Of course, I'm only extrapolating based on the photos.
