Live from Tokyo: Sony Introduces the World's Fastest and Slimmest Bravia Full HD LCD TV



We’re just back from a Sony Press Conference, where they introduced a new lineup of four BRAVIA Full HD LCD TVs.

The XR1 LCD series is available in 55" & 46" and features a RGB LED back lighted panel (Triluminos LED Technology) with a resolution of 1920x1080, and provides a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 (up to 1,000,000:1 with a Dynamic Contrast Ratio) and a viewing angle of 178°. It's also equipped with the BRAVIA Engine 2 Pro, Motion Flow Pro (120Hz), four HDMI inputs, and S-Video/Component/LAN/USB interface.

Thanks to Triluminos LED Technology, the new Sony LCD TV achieve a better image quality expanding the TV’s color range by aligning individual clusters of red, green and blue LEDs, significantly elevating color purity compared to traditional single white LED backlights.

The XR1 series will be available on October 10th for respectively 4675€ (KDL-55XR1) and 3750€( KDL-46XR1).

The W1 Series is available in 46" and 40" and features the new Motion Flow 240Hz (offering an image-driving speed of 4x), a Full HD panel, digital tuner TV, BRAVIA Engine 2, 24p True Cinema, and three HDMI inputs, and every I/O terminal you need: USB, LAN, S-Video, component…. Our W1 series also provides a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a viewing angle of 178°.

Available on November for 2500€ (KDL-46W1) and 1800€ (KDL-40W1)

The ZX1 Series provides the world’s slimmest screen with a thickness of 9.9mm but is only available in 40" with a Full HD panel. It achieves a contrast ratio of 3,000:1, a viewing angle of 178°, and features Bravia 1080 wireless technology, BRAVIA Engine 2, Motion Flow 120Hz, 24pTrue Cinema.

Available on November for about 3000€ (KDL-40ZX1).

The X1 series is available in 52", 46", and 40", and features a Full HD panel, BRAVIA Engine 2 Pro, digital tuner TV, 24p True Cinema, three HDMI inputs and provides a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and a viewing angle of 178°.

Available in October for 3300€ (KDL-52X1), 2680€ (KDL-46X1), 1995€ (KDL-40X1).

As in your title, you didn't spell it correctly, it is not the "SLIMEST" but the "SLIMIEST". In principle the Philips Company claims the slimmest TV currently !

That picture of the two remote controls at the bottom, the one on the right has a Windows Media Center button on it.

Did Sony integrate a Window Media Center Extender into their TV line ??

I know HP have done it already in the USA & I think Samsung have been toying with the idea but I'm sorta surprised to see Sony do so as well. I thought they would have integrated their own XMB with UPnP/DLNA as seen in the PS3.

Ignore my last comment, looking again at the picture it is a Sony Vaio remote for their laptops not TV's, mystery solved : )
