BenQ Goes Pentax?

BenQ has launched a pair of successors to a pair of its point-and-shoot cameras. The E820 replaces the 7-megapixel E720 and offers 8-megapixel resolution, face detection, and a mode that shoots pictures at ISO 1600.

The C740i upgrade maintains the existing 7-megapixel sensor but adds the same face detection and ISO 1600 as you would find on the E820.

So how does Pentax come into play? Well, both cameras feature a higher-grade Pentax lens with 3X optical zoom and include MPEG-4 video recording while zooming in. Even better, they both feature a 720x400 widescreen mode for capturing DVD video.

Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing or availability, but both cameras should be available soon.
