A New Samsung Digital Frame Hits Japan

Samsung will start selling the SPF-83M in Japan (already available in some countries, Europe and China). Our 8” SVGA (800x600) digital frame supports MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 video files, as well as WMV9, MP3, and WMA9 audio files, and JPEG photos. Our little SPF-83M has a contrast ratio 500:1 and a brightness of 200cd/m.

In my opinion, these so called " digital frames " are a pretty stupid thing. Normal frames are cheaper, doesn't need electricity/battery and are good at showing pictures.

And if you want a handheld movieplayer, there is better stuff out there.

why can't they put a vnc client into these digital frames and a basic touchscreen, as then you could make them very versatile indeed as a remote picture viewer + media player + media centre controller?
