CEATEC 2008 Live (Day 2): Toshiba Booth with Netbook, LCD Display, Ultra Long Life Battery

Let’s continue today with the CEATEC 2008 and Toshiba.

Toshiba’s SCiB Battery
A week ago Toshiba announced safe, long-life, rapid charging ion battery able to repeat the charge-discharge cycle over 6,000 times and designed for electric bicycles. Toshiba’s SCiB 24V/4.2Ah module can be charged up to 90% of full capacity in only five minutes. We have no information about its release date.

Toshiba’s LCD Dashboard
Toshiba also introduced their LCD dashboard designed for cars using OCB Mode. Our screen features a 12.8’’ panel size with double VGA resolution (1280x480) and is LED backlighted. The dashboard also comes with a 60mm diameter round cell with a resolution of 240x240, also LED backlighted.

We thought it might be used on a Crown hybrid, but at the moment, the LCD dashboard is not available. Toshiba wouldn’t give us information about a car manufacturer that will use it. Apparently, Nissan and Toyota could get it…. wait & see.

Toshiba’s SSD
Introduced last Friday (here: Toshiba Announces a New 2.5-Inch SSD Drive and a New Flash Module), Toshiba showed it to us. Nothing new, just some live pictures in the gallery.

Other Toshiba’s goodies
A very stylish media server concept, but no real information on it. The NB100 Netbook was also displayed at Toshiba’s booth, the Dynabook NX
