QR Codes are leaving Japan

Still at ePRICE Taiwan, we found this piece of news: QR-CODE is a Japanese bar code system that is used a lot on mobile phones. The QR-CODE is often printed on name cards or on a information sign. You simply have to scan the bar code and save it in the memory. And now, Taiwan seems to adopt this practical system too. The other interesting aspect of this news is that all the phones that are displayed, are Smartphones running Windows CE, manufactured by HTC (the number one PDA manufacturer in the world).

The codes in the first 2 photos are definitely not QR Codes. QR Codes are easily identified by three little squares on its two upper corners and the lower-left corner (as shown on the bottom example). My guess is that this is a new 2D symbology invented by the Taiwanese.
