EM-750RW 512Mb (MP3 player)

The big MP3 god offers us a chance to discover a nice player, the EM-750R, available in 512Mb and 1Gb versions. Those of you that always want more in the palm of their hand, have a look at this mini-MP3 player that does a maximum number of things.

The EM-750RW on video

Specifications

As you could see on the previous picture, this player is tiny, 69 x 33 x 16 mm for 40g. It also has an OLED screen that can display 26000 colours on its 96 x 96 pixel screen. Compatibility-wise, everybody will be please when knowing that it reads MP3, WMA, WMA DRM and OGG files. You can even encode your own files onto the player (in WMA). Icing on the cake is the compatibility with Mpeg4 files, so you can view videos on the screen.

Contents of the box

The package is simple but complete: you have what it takes to hook it up to the PC and the HiFi set, a small lanyard to wear the device around the neck, a small pouch made out of transparent plastic and the headphones. Simple but efficient.

Comparison of the dimensions

The EM-750 vs an X5: two machines with almost the same functionalities, but with very different dimensions. Quite fun to see these two machines, aside from the memory capacity, the FM tuner and the OTG, offer the same functions:

The measuring stick of the Geek: the CF and the SD!

Music, Video and ease of use

It's difficult to "show" that the music from this device is good, really good, so you'll have to trust us on this one. In the box, you will find a CD with the required software to convert your CD's, and you'll be glad to read that all the software is in English.

When it comes to the ease of use, we have no remarks to make, the interface is simple and efficient. It's quite difficult to comment on the way you handle the device, as it is quite small, but we had no problems using the device.

The video then... we were blown away! We kind of feared the worst judging by the dimensions of the device, but the rendering is good. On such a screen, it will be quite impossible to watch an entire movie, but an episode of a TV show or something similar is more than feasible, and makes thos commuting journeys to work bearable.

You should not have any worries about the encoding process of your videos onto the EM-750, as it comes with a software that transforms your videos (except the live encoding of your DVD's). As you can see below, you just have to direct the software to your video file, and the software takes care of everything from that point onwards. The end result when converting a 10Mb 640 x 480 video file is a file of 1Mb.

But to really see what we mean, have a look at the (10Mb) video that we made for you.

Thanks to GeekStuff4U.com for allowing us to tes this device.

Conclusion:
A very nice surprise, that's what will remain in our memory of this player made in Korea. The sound is good, the player looks good, it supports OGG and video/photo playback... so all's well with this device.
