Product Name: PowerShot TX1
Company: CANON
Price: € 400.00
Rating: 8

Plus:
Materials used on the TX1
Decent photos
Decent HD and SD videos even with Motion JPEG
Minus:
Inaccessible photo button
Conclusion:
The TX1 is a nice step toward an all-in-one video and photo product, with the ability to take HD videos in a very acceptable quality for this kind of product. We loved the feel and the quality of the materials used on this camera, but we really hated having to deal with that photo button. That’s the only thing we hated, really.

I want to know if this camera can also be used as a web cam? also is there a better combo recorder that might be larger in size thats more ergonomical?
4 due to its small size.

I've had this camera for about 2 months now, and although it performs great outdoors, indoor shots aren't really up to scratch. Canon IXY/IXUS models do a much better job of point and shoot.
as for shooting videos, motion jpeg isn;t that great, considering the huge amount of disk space that it takes up. with a 4gb SD card, you get about a maximum of 15mins of shooting time in high resolution, but you might be pleased to know that this camera also accepts SDHC cards. And considering that 32gb SDHC are coming out in the near future, one day i just might be able to record
a whole hour of HD video!

recording stops at 1 hour no matter how much space you have and you only have a choice of 320x240 ,640x480 and 1280x720.
in short, yes its a decent camera and no its not a webcam. you should buy it only if you have a specific use for it. eg. short video clips. oh the stereo mic gives pretty decent sound, but a dedicated mic jack is non-existent.
one more con about motion jpeg is that because its so big, i had to compress and convert. finding the right settings was kinda time-consuming.
hoep this helps
