Tripod, the portable speakers

Everybody has used a portable audio player at least once in their life... yes, even my granny! The enormous success of the MP3 players (we have to admit, we're the MP3 generation) thanks to the iPOD has changed our way of listening and using music on the go. Look at us now, we have hundreds of CD's in our pockets, hours and hours of music when and where we want... SavitMicro, a Korean company, makes this mobile audio experience even better with their TriPod.

The TriPod on video

TriPod, but what is it exactly?

The TriPod is what its name leads us to believe: a tripod, just like the ones we use for our cameras, but as a specific feature, this one has small speakers in its legs.

And the music... where does it come from?

As you can see on the 2 pictures below, there is a mini jack, and this connector will allow you to impale your MP3 player onto the Tripod, or, in case your player does not have the connector on top, its remote control.

As you can see on this picture with the X5 music player, with its connector on the side, the TriPod is not very stable and there is a risk that the whole thing tips over. no worries though, as the TriPod can be connected to the remote control of your audio player.

What kind of fuel does it guzzle?

Well, the TriPod is powered by one single AAA battery and you have a little button on the top of the battery slot to activate the device. There is also a small (green) LED on the external part of the TriPod that indicates that the device is switched on (it's located in the same leg where the battery slot is situated).

What about the sound?

You'll be disappointed if you expect the same sound as the one generated by your HiFi set at home or even the headphones of your audio player, but the sound experience is not that bad after all. The sound is well spaced as you have speakers in all three legs, so whatever the position is around the TriPod, the sound is the same. Really cool if you want to listen to some tunes outdoors with some friends.

Plus:
Design
Very practical
Usage speeds

Minus:
It's preferred to have a player with the connections on the top part of the housing

Conclusion:
An interesting solution if you want to listen to some music outdoors or in a place where they have no HiFi set (for example a hotel room). The design is very iPOD-ish which gives it a nice and cool look for all the iPOD lovers, but even with other audio players like the X5 on our pictures, there is no problem at all.
