NOVATO, Calif., Oct. 22 -- Sonic Solutions(R)
(Nasdaq: SNIC), the leader in digital media software, today announced that
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has introduced two DVD/CD computer writers
featuring Sonic's Qflix(TM) technology. The new Pioneer(R) internal
DVR-2920Q and external DVR-X162Q DVD/CD writers will enable consumers to
download and burn DVDs of their favorite Hollywood movies from CinemaNow
for playback on standard and high-definition DVD players. The writers will
be available at major retailers and direct from Pioneer at
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com.

Pioneer becomes the latest major manufacturer to introduce
Qflix-enabled drives. Last month, Dell announced the availability of a
Qflix drive bundle, which is an option on most Inspiron, Studio and XPS
laptops and sold through Dell's Entertainment, Software and Accessories
online store.

"Our new line of Pioneer computer DVD burners featuring Qflix
technology gives movie fans a seamless way to download and own their
favorite Hollywood hits for viewing beyond the PC to DVD players throughout
the house," said Steven Cohn, director of optical sales for Pioneer
Electronics (USA) Inc. "With more and more Hollywood hits, television shows
and independent movies becoming available in the near future, our burners
will also provide consumers a convenient method to expand their disc
libraries without the long search time and footwork."

The new Pioneer writers provide a means for home audiences to download
and preserve content to DVD for playback on all standard and
high-definition players. The result is a richer viewing experience that
transcends current digital delivery entertainment options.

"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Pioneer to bring
Qflix-enabled products to market," said Mark Ely, executive vice president
of Strategy, Sonic Solutions. "Support from major manufactures like Pioneer
will help to further establish Qflix as the symbol for consumers looking
for compatible and convenient 'purchase, download, and burn' solutions."

To streamline the user experience, both Pioneer drives incorporate
Roxio(R) Venue(TM) software that provides simplified management and writing
of downloaded digital content. Also included in the software bundle are
applications that allow users to back-up and play their disc media on a PC
via the Roxio CinePlayer(R) and Easy CD & DVD Burning software.

About Qflix

The Qflix(TM) program offers a new means for content owners to release
titles for custom production and sale over the Internet while maintaining
the same level of copy protection used on commercially mass-produced DVDs.
The program provides essential technology and IP for both the professional
and consumer market. For professional and enterprise manufacturing of DVDs
"on demand," the Qflix program allows production facilities to reduce the
cost of carrying physical inventory while simultaneously offering extensive
catalogs of content. The program also enables retailers to broaden the
number of movies by augmenting physical product with on-demand DVD creation
kiosks in their stores. For consumers, the Qflix program provides a
long-awaited downloading and burning solution for movies and premium video
content in computers and consumer electronic devices such as set-top boxes,
networked DVD recorders, and DVRs.

For more information regarding the Qflix technology licensing program,
please contact Qflix Licensing (licensing@qflix.com) or visit
