SAN JOSE, California -- October 01, 2009 -- Plat'Home, Japan's Linux pioneer, today announced the OpenBlockS 600, the new model of the OpenBlockS series, a line of compact and durable Linux micro servers.
It packs a 600 MHz CPU, a full Gigabyte of RAM and Gigabit Ethernet in a palm-sized box. Heat and dust resistant and just 5 x 3 x 1 inches, it fits and survives in any small corner. And at a mere 8 W power consumption, it's friendly to both wallet and environment.

+++ The Product +++
+ Embedded platform for Web appliances The new, powered-up specs of the OpenBlockS 600 offer more than twice the CPU speed and eight times the RAM compared to the previous model.
With that power, it can run Web applications and databases to build an appliance.
As an appliance, you can place your software directly at your
customer's site, without installation hassles. And you avoid the security risk of a cloud solution, as no data will leave the network.
Bring your application back from the cloud, right into the office.

+ For Resellers and Developers
To offer the best conditions for appliance development on the
OpenBlockS 600, all preinstalled software on the OpenBlockS is Open Source. It comes preinstalled with SSD/Linux, our in-house embedded Linux distribution.
For value-added resellers and appliance makers, we offer a wide range of customizations to sell the OpenBlockS as an appliance under your own brand, preloaded with your software.

+ The OpenBlockS Series
The OpenBlockS series is the leading embedded Linux platform in Japan.
As robust workhorses for everything from data streaming to device control and network monitoring, OpenBlockS systems have convinced both Linux enthusiasts and large enterprises with their reliability and durability and sold over 50.000 units.

+ Ecologic policy
The OpenBlockS series already has the lowest possible carbon footprint, but Plat'Home decided to go one step further by supporting a carbon offset program. This program is planned to set off 1000 metric tons of CO2 in a wind energy project in Tamil Nadu, India.
