NEW YORK (IH/M&RS Booth #3062), Nov. 11, 2007 – Sony today unveiled a high-definition digital signage player, offering hotel operators and their employees flexible options for creating and controlling networks of displays across a property.

“Digital signage is all about giving a customer the freedom, flexibility and creativity to communicate a message more dynamically and effectively,” said John Kaloukian, director of Sony Electronics’ professional display group. “This new player offers great image quality, a range of playback options and multiple connectivity inputs to create a comprehensive digital signage network.”

The new VSP-NS7 model expands Sony’s line of digital signage network cards and players. This new unit features improvements in overall video quality, increased Flash playback due to a more powerful central processing unit, an enhanced HTML browser, and an additional graphic layer that is capable of showing Flash and MPEG content in one layout.

The new player is HD compliant up to a resolution of 1280 x 720. Kaloukian said it delivers seamless sequential playback of video content – with no “black” visible during video switching. It has a five-layer playback capability for bitmap, JPEG, web browser, video, and telop source material.

Users can easily insert logos over video and also rotate content according to display orientation.

The player features a live IP security camera input. Through this one unit, users can centrally control projectors and display devices, as well as perform general scheduling throughout a property. RS-232 control also enables picture-in-picture capability for use with cable and satellite systems.

The VSP-NS7 digital signage player should be available in December at a suggested list price of $2,300.
